“The Gates” is a public art project conceived, financed, designed, and executed by the artists Christo and Jean-Claude, who have collaborated on such projects all over the world since 1958. “The Gates” consists of over 7,500 pleated saffron-colored fabric panels hung from vinyl frames erected along approximately 23 miles of footpaths in Central Park.These photos were taken on Sunday, February 20, 2005.
